Santa Maria Valley Chapter 99s |
Welcome to The Ninety-Nines Established in 1929 by 99 women pilots to provide mutual support and advancement of aviation, The Ninety-Nines Organization of Women Pilots has continued and expanded that mission. Today, the organization promotes world fellowship through flight, provides networking and scholarship opportunities for women and aviation education in the community and preserves the unique history of women in aviation. Following in the footsteps of these early 99s, our members are represented in all areas of aviation today. And, to quote Amelia, fly "for the fun of it!" The Santa Maria Valley Chapter of The Ninety-Nines was chartered in 1988. Members of our chapter mainly come from the Five Cities area, Lompoc, Solvang and Santa Maria areas. Our monthly chapter meetings are open to all members and guests and are normally held on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month. We meet in members' homes, hangars (in good weather), restaurants and occasionally at the Santa Maria Museum of Flight. If you are a woman pilot or would like more information about women aviators in our area, we invite you to join us for a meeting. |
